Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to that game and is being developed by a new team at Eidos Montreal.

Child’s Play is a community-based games industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world. Through their network of more than 60 hospitals and through the generosity of their community of donors, Child’s Play raises millions of dollars each year to donate games, consoles, and toys to sick children.

Gears of War 3 is due out on April 5, 2011.

Starting next month, Red Dead Redemption will be getting at least 4 new DLC packs. They will cost 800 Microsoft Points each, apart from the “Free Roam Pack”, which has yet to be priced (It’s likely to be free).

Here are the details of what’s to come:

So now that all those great titles have passed, you might think that we can breathe a sigh of relief and finally start to save up some money. Well.. actually, you’d better keep your wallet out, because the second half of the year is packed with just as many top games. Lets take a look at the best of what’s to come.

Vanquish

As soon as you see a new game directed by Shinji Mikami is coming, you’d better start getting excited. Shinji Mikami is most recognised as as the creator of God Hand and the first Resident Evil. He’s also the man who put the Resident Evil series through substantial changes after he was hired to replace Resident Evil 4′s original director, Hiroshi Shibata. Now he has 2 new titles on the way. The first is a new, untitled horror game, but no more details on that have been released yet. The second is Vanquish.

Vanquish is a third-person shooter that bears several similarities to Gears Of War, except it looks faster, crazier and more fun. Set in the near future, where the US and Russia are at war with each other for their claim to the last of the worlds energy resources. You play Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battlesuit.

Medal Of Honor

In hopes of equalling Call Of Duty’s success EA are rebooting the Medal of Honor franchise with the new game, due out this October. Unusually the game’s single player and multiplayer components are being developed individually, by two seperate studios. With EA Los Angeles, creators of the previous medal of honor games working on the single player and DICE, creators of the Battlefield games, designing the multiplayer.

Mafia 2

Heavily influenced by classic gangster movies like The Godfather and Once Upon A Time In America, Mafia 2 looks like it could be the game which finally topples Grand Theft Auto’s crown.

Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow

Lords of Shadow is a reboot of the Castlevania series, which is being developed by MercurySteam, with a little help from Metal Gear Solid director, Hideo Kojima.

Also due out this year:

Crackdown 2,  Dead Rising 2, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier,  Fable 3,  Crysis 2,  Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II,  Fallout: New Vegas,  True Crime,  Call Of Duty Black Ops,  Halo: Reach,  Splatterhouse and  Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

The game is being developed by Danish Playdead Studios and revolves around a young boy (you) searching for his sister in a nightmarish black and white world, littered with clever puzzles and danger every step of the way.

Limbo will offer around four hours of play and is due out this summer.

Kinect

It kicked off with new trailers from a few familiar titles with Call of Duty Black Ops, Gears of War 3, Fable 3 and Halo: Reach as well as a couple of newer titles with Metal Gear Solid: Rising (the most impressive) and Crytek’s teaser of Codename: Kingdoms.

Next up was a long demo of Kinect in action which was a little underwhelming for a few reasons; firstly it dragged on too long, taking up the biggest chunk of the show, secondly  the price of Kinect was kept firmly under wraps (as far as pricing is concerned, no news usually means bad news) and while being able to navigate the dashboard by moving your hands looked cool, it still seems like it would be quicker and easier to use a pad. Also shortly after the show info was leaked stating that Kinect’s camera can only properly detect you while you are standing, though Microsoft insists that this will be fixed before it’s release.

Finally the new slimmer Xbox 360 was revealed:

It  has a 250gb hard drive, a built-in wi-fi adapter, runs quieter and is said to be more reliable. It will be available in stores from the 16th of July.

Sound too good to be true? Well the sceptics, me included, believe that this just is not doable with today’s technology. I’m not so concerned about bandwidth, but rather latency – the fraction of a second delay between button press, the data being sent via your system to a cloud network and back again as video. Online games have often suffered with lag issues and I believe Onlive is likely to be hit more than most.

Additionally, depending on the speed of your broadband the video may need various amounts of compression reducing both image and sound quality. With broadband speeds getting faster and faster this is becoming less of a problem, however internet costs may rise for those with capped usage allowances. A heavy games player will certainly need large limits if not unlimited broadband.

Saying all of that – I love the very idea. It sounds like something out of Star Trek and part of me wants it to succeed, I am just sceptical that it will.
